If nothing else there was no need to worry about PB&J going bad in your unrefrigerated brown bag lunch whereas the same could not be said for Tuna Fish, another favorite. Cold cuts are a bit more stable. They should be, poison is typically stable because it kills the bugs.
But when the clot shots came along it was "no clot shots for me". Clot shots bad, but maybe the other poisons were good. Particularly the pre-1986 stuff. There was always that "you don't like vaccines? But what about Polio and Smallpox?"
